Scars / Stretch Marks / Acne Scars

When the skin is injured, the body starts producing collagen to repair the damage, and as a result, this can leave a scar. The appearance and quality of the scar depend on many factors:

  • The size and depth of the injury.
  • Type of skin injury (burn, cut, bite).
  • Location of the scar.
  • Age.
  • Genetic factors.

Overproduction of collagen can lead to a hypertrophic scar or a keloid. It looks like a thickened and raised area compared to the surrounding skin. Another type of scarring is called atrophic scarring. It appears as a sunken area of the skin.

Scars are one of the most difficult skin conditions to treat. They can be disfiguring and affect self-esteem.

The good news is, that acne scars do not have to be permanent. Treatments we offer include:

  • Micro-Needling with PRF or Pep-Factor:
Micro-needling creates micromechanical injury to the skin, which stimulates your body’s response to heal and stimulate collagen production. This response can be enhanced by PRF or pep-factor, which are essential growth factors. To achieve optimal results, it is necessary to do 3-5 treatments 1 month apart.
  • RF Micro-Needling:
Radiofrequency energy aids in more effective collagen stimulation, it is a great remedy for stretch marks as well. It is recommended to undergo 3 treatments one month apart. The results appear as a gradual improvement.
  • Dermal fillers:
Dermal fillers are used to fill atrophic scars. When injected into a scar it immediately adds volume, lifts the surrounding skin, and provides a smoother appearance. We use hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm or Restylane. Bellafill is the only FDA-approved filler used for acne scar filling.

  • Chemical peel:
We use medical strength “Revepeel” to address post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or dark spots. It is 5-7 days of downtime and peeling. A chemical peel should be done in the winter or autumn to decrease sun exposure.

  • Tixel
The Tixel is a Thermo-mechanical skin resurfacing creates micro-coagulation and breaks down scar tissue. We enhance the effect by introducing growth factors through micro-channels. Keloid scars can be treated in conjunction 5-FU or steroids with applied locally right after the treatment.

Acne scars caused by severe cystic acne can be a reason for a significant decrease in self-confidence and can lead to frustration.

  • Subcision and filling with Bellafill
  • TCA Cross targets “ice pick” or pore-like scars
  • Smooth/twisted PDO or PLLA threads to subside the scars and provide the scaffold for collagen stimulation, scar remodeling
